Host Personality

Help our photographer crew run the room: manage the crowd and the line, greet people with a smile, and set expectations.

Where
Events across Michigan, out of our Detroit office and Howell studio. Some travel events.
When
Mostly nights and weekends. Shifts run from a 3-hour reception to a full conference day. Some of our team works nearly every weekend, some once a month.

What you’ll do

  • Manage crowds and lines of people so the photographers can keep shooting.
  • Greet people with a smile and set expectations: how long the wait is and what happens next.
  • Be generally helpful to the photographer crew, whatever they need.
  • Set up early and ready to go? If other event staff are still getting last-minute things done, ask if you can help. We always go out of our way to help when we have time.

Who you are

  • Fun, charismatic, and kind. Consistently, not just for the first hour.
  • Comfortable on your feet for long events with a good attitude.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid license. Cases go in your vehicle.

Not for you if

  • You default to complaining or need babysitting.
  • You say yes to events you can’t actually make.
  • You’d rather stand next to the machine than talk to people.

What it pays

  • $25/hr while you train. $35/hr once you’re trained and can host events on your own.
  • Training time is paid, including the videos, the studio practice, and your first events with a lead.
  • Driving to far events: $25/hr plus fuel. Overnights: lodging booked for you, meals reimbursed.
  • Get a shoutout by name in a Google review: $50.
  • Meet someone at an event who wants to book us? Send them your personal link. $50 for every event that books through it, paid when it books.
  • Paid every two weeks through Gusto. Everything above is in writing before your first event.
