Mammoth

Jobs

We hire personalities. We teach the rest.

Hosts, photographers, production and design. You keep your own business and your own calendar; we bring the work.

The process

How it works

  1. 1. Apply

Fill out the short form on the role you want, with a link to your work.

  2. 2. Phone screen

A real conversation about you, not a script.

  3. 3. References

We ask for three, and we call them.

  4. 4. Offer in writing

Your role and rate in writing.

  5. 5. Onboarding and training

Paid training: the videos, a quiz and a hands-on day at the studio. You sign The Standard.

  6. 6. Shadow an event

Work an event as an apprentice.

  7. 7. Work

    First event, then the next.

The filter

Who we hire. Who we don’t.

We hire

  • Charismatic people with high, sustained energy.
  • People who like people. Kind, respectful, helpful.
  • Coachable. Self-motivated learners.
  • “Send-done” people: ask once, it gets done, they tell you when it’s done.
  • People who’ve done it before and own the outcome.
  • People who expect a lot from themselves.

We don’t hire

  • People who default to complaining.
  • People who need babysitting.
  • People who keep making the same mistake.
  • People who can’t handle their current responsibilities.
  • Awkward hosts. An unhosted booth beats an awkward host.

The interview

What we’ll ask you

  • What do you do for fun?
  • How are you working on yourself?
  • What’s really important to you right now, personally and professionally?
  • Fast forward 18 months. How do you want to feel? How have you grown?
  • What keeps you going when it gets hard? Because this is still work.

Questions we get

Is this a W-2 staff position?

No. Everyone works as a 1099 independent contractor, booked per event. Hosts are paid hourly. You run your own business — we’re a steady source of good work.

Do I need photo experience to host?

No. We hire the personality and teach the setup. Photographers do need real portrait and studio-lighting experience.

Can I shoot my own client work alongside Mammoth events?

Yes. You keep your own business — solo headshots, studio work, your own clients. Live, high-paced event work is our niche and runs through Mammoth.

  • At our events you represent Mammoth. If a guest asks, you tell them you freelance and this kind of work is done through us.
  • Think of us as your booking agent for event work: we handle the admin, you show up and do great work.
  • We go after annual events, so the good ones tend to come back with the same team.

Do clients book photographers by name?

Yes. We don’t hide the team behind a logo — we promote our photographers by name, so clients can request you specifically.

How does payment work?

Rates are agreed per event, in writing, before you arrive. No haggling on the day, no surprises after.

Do you provide the gear?

Yes. We bring the full kit — bodies, lighting, the iPads, and the backdrops. You bring your eye; we supply the rest. (Prefer to shoot on your own body? That’s your call.)

Is there exclusivity?

No. We don’t claim your calendar. You opt in or out of every event.

We’re always hiring great people.
