Portrait Booth Host
Run a Mammoth photo experience at an event. Greet guests, bring the energy, help them get photos they love.
- Where
- Events across Michigan, out of our Detroit office and Howell studio. Some travel events.
- When
- Mostly nights and weekends. Shifts run from a 3-hour reception to a full conference day. Some of our team works nearly every weekend, some once a month.
What you’ll do
- Pick up the kit, set it up clean, and test it before doors open.
- Face the room. Greet guests right away, invite groups in, help them pose, get as many photos as possible.
- Keep an eye on lighting and framing all night. Booths get moved.
- Take a few setup and behind-the-scenes photos and videos for our social.
- Verify every photo uploaded, pack it how you found it, check the kit back in.
Who you are
- Fun, charismatic, and kind. Consistently, not just for the first hour.
- Coachable. You expect feedback and you use it.
- Comfortable on your feet for 6+ hours with a good attitude.
- Able to lift cases up to 80 lbs into your vehicle. Valid license, reliable car.
- Dressed for the room. You own business and black-tie clothes. For guys: velvet jacket, white shirt, bow tie, black dress shoes, and properly fitting clothes.
Not for you if
- You default to complaining or need babysitting.
- You say yes to events you can’t actually make.
- You’d rather stand next to the machine than talk to people.
What it pays
- $25/hr while you train. $35/hr once you’re trained and can host events on your own.
- Training time is paid, including the videos, the studio practice, and your first events with a lead.
- $25 for each kit pick-up and each drop-off.
- Driving to far events: $25/hr plus fuel. Overnights: lodging booked for you, meals reimbursed.
- Get a shoutout by name in a Google review: $50.
- Meet someone at an event who wants to book us? Send them your personal link. $50 for every event that books through it, paid when it books.
- Paid every two weeks through Gusto. Everything above is in writing before your first event.

How hiring works
The full process- Step 1
Apply
Fill out the short form on the role you want. Tell us where you’re based, when you’re available, and what you do for fun. Photographers: send your work. We reply to every applicant.
- Step 2
Phone screen
A real conversation, not a script. What do you do now and why? Why us? When are you available, and how far will you travel?
- Step 3
References
If we like the conversation we ask for three references from current or past coworkers, and we actually call them: what was it like to work with you, and would they hire you again?
- Step 4
Offer in writing
Role, responsibilities, and pay rate, in writing.
- Step 5
Onboarding and training
Paid training: the videos, a quiz and a hands-on day at the studio. You read and sign The Standard before your first event.
- Step 6
Shadow an event
Work an event as an apprentice.
- Step 7
Work
First event, then the next.
